Pastor John T. Brice

Pastor John T. Brice, M.Div. a native of Philadelphia, PA, is an alumnus of Morehouse College. While at Morehouse, John was active in the organization of community events, purposed in giving back to the West End community of Atlanta, Georgia.  In addition, mentoring was a constant aspect of John’s early start in ministry.  Through the program, Building Young Men through His-Story, eighth-grade boys from Herndon Elementary and M. Agnes Jones, would spend time with their mentors at the M. L. King Center, focusing on exposing and developing young people through our history.  John was an active developer of Building Young Men since his freshman year and throughout his college career.

Pastor John's journey from Morehouse College led to completing his candidacy and receiving a Master’s of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University.  John served as a member of Mayor Michael Nutter’s Commission on African-American Males and a member of the planning committee for Arcadia University’s Black Male Development Symposium.  John now serves the Pastor of St. James Campus, and is a committed visionary focusing on community, family, and youth development through the Love of Christ.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe in the one true, holy and living God who reveals himself as the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe God the Father is the Creator, Sovereign and Preserver of all things visible and invisible.

We believe in Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man who lived, suffered and died on the cross. He was buried, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven to be with the Father, from whence He shall return. His sacrifice was sufficient for the sins of the whole world and redeems all human beings from sin.

We believe the Holy Spirit comforts, sustains and empowers the faithful and guides them into all truth.

We believe in the Holy Bible as the Word of God. It contains all that is necessary for our salvation.

We believe the church is the community of all true believers under the Lordship of Christ. Under the discipline of the Holy Spirit the church exists for the maintenance of worship, the edification of believers and the redemption of the world

We believe two sacraments were ordained by Christ: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism signifies entrance into the household of faith, and is a symbol of repentance and inner cleansing from sin. We offer three ways of baptism: sprinkling, pouring and immersion. Infant baptism includes infants in the fellowship of the church, where they are nurtured and enabled to profess their faith and confirm their baptism. The Lord’s Supper (holy communion) reminds us of the sacrifice Jesus made for our sins, binds us together as His family, and fills us with His grace. We believe all persons are welcome at the table of our Lord.

We believe all human beings, by their mortal nature, are inclined to sin. But we are justified by faith in Jesus Christ and made acceptable to God. We believe good works flow from a vital faith in God.

We believe God’s grace works in each of us through the Word and the Spirit to help us love God with all our hearts and to walk in His Will and Way.

We believe God is the owner of all things and that we are called to be good stewards of the world in which we live, and the time, talent and treasure we possess.

We believe in the power of prayer that serves to connect us with God, convict us of His truth, provide guidance to the faithful, and transform the world through His love.
